The Makeup and Book Tag

I was inspired by a video made by two of my favorite YouTubers, Estée Lalonde and Ariel Bissett, to make this blog post, so go check out their video here . I’m not really into long intros, so let’s just jump straight into the tag!

Favorite Primer and a Book that Left a Lasting Impression IMG_0780

My favorite primer is the NYX Pore Filler. It’s just your average silicon-based pore vanishing primer, but it really works and it’s inexpensive ! IMG_0779

A book that left a lasting impression on me is Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling. I found it hilarious and also insightful. I especially loved the chapter entitled “Don’t Peak in High School”. Even though I read this book years ago, Mindy’s advice still helps me through some difficult things.

Favorite Foundation and First Book in a Series

IMG_0781

This foundation is absolutely ideal! It comes in many different shades, it’s full coverage, and it looks like nothing on the skin. It is more on the expensive side, but in my eyes it’s well worth it.

My favorite first book in a series is Delirium by Lauren Oliver. It’s about a futuristic society in which love is seen as a disease. Once you reach a certain age you undergo an operation that makes you no longer feel love. At first Lena can’t wait to get the operation, but when she sees a certain boy her feelings change. This book had everything from romance to action. I highly recommend!

Favorite Powder and Last Book in a Series

powder.jpg

My absolute favorite powder is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in translucent. I’ve been using this powder for about five years, and even if I stray for a while I always come back. It keeps me matte for most of the day and it doesn’t look cakey on the skin.

My favorite last book in a series is without a doubt Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling. This book made me fangirl like no other, it was unpredictable, and made me laugh and cry. If you haven’t read the Harry Potter series yet, what are you waiting for?!?!

Favorite Eyebrow Product and a Book you Think Everyone Should Read

brows

My go-to eyebrow product is the Sephora Collection Brow Builder. It’s a tinted brow gel with hair like fibers. Not only is it quick and easy to use, but it also makes my eyebrows look more bold without looking like they have product on them. This product is not talked about enough, and I highly recommend you go out and try it! #eyebrowsonfleek

The book that I think everyone should read is The Giver by Lois Lowry. This is one of the only books I read in school that was actually interesting! This book explores what the world would be like without love, color, and music. If everyone had to read this book, the world would be a better place.

Favorite Eyeshadow and a Book with you Favorite Colors on the Cover

tarte 1.jpgtarte 2.jpg

I couldn’t just pick one eyeshadow, but this is my favorite palette. With a little bit of mixing, this palette has every shade you could possibly need for everyday. And the bronze shimmer shade in the top middle- stunning!

love and gelato.jpg

Honestly, just look at this cover. It’s gorgeous. I love the watercolor title and the pastel colors. However, this is actually a pretty good book. It’s about a girl who goes to Italy when her mom dies. She sees all the sights, eats all the food, and even meets a few boys along the way. This surely isn’t the best book ever written, but it’s a good poolside read!

Favorite Eyeliner and a Dark and Mysterious Book

IMG_0794eyeliner swatch.jpg

My favorite everyday eyeliner is Colourpop  Cream Gel Pencil in Over Board. It’s a beautiful bronze shade with crazy pigment. I love to put it in my waterline for a fun neutral pop.

“We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart is about a rich family who owns an island off of the east coast of America. This book is hard to explain without giving too much away, but just give it a read! It’s a short book with very unique writing, and you’ll never expect the plot twist at the end. Even my description is dark and mysterious hehehe…

Favorite Blush and a Book with Cringe Worthy Romance

spellbound.jpg

As you can see, this blush has gotten lots of love. The Makeup Geek blush in spellbound is perfect. It’s a beautiful neutral pink with the perfect amount of pigment. Blush doesn’t get much better than this!

A book with cringe worthy romance is The Selection by Kiera Cass. This book is pretty much The Bachelor with princes and princesses. It was a fun read and I remember shamefully eating the romance up. Looking back, it was pretty cringe worthy.

Favorite Highlight and a Book that Brightened your Day

highlight.jpg

My favorite highlight is the Lancôme Glow Subtil Cream Highlight. The texture is so smooth and it leaves the perfect subtle glow on the skin. This is the perfect highlight for someone who wants to use highlight but doesn’t want it to be too blingy.

A book that always brightens my day is The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. This is a lovely copy I got for Christmas a few years ago. Look at how nice the illustrations are! I always turn to this book if I’m having a bad day.

Favorite Lipstick and Best Book Kiss

The best lipstick of all time, in my opinion, is the Nars Audacious Lipstick in the shade Anna. It’s a satin finish with amazing pigment. This color is perfect for everyday, but you can add more on to get a darker, “going out” shade.

The best book kiss is undoubtedly Ron and Hermione’s in the Chamber of Secrets in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I was waiting since book three for that kiss to happen, and when it finally happened J.K. Rowling didn’t let us down. Just, read Harry Potter if you haven’t already. Please.

Favorite Contour and a Book that Could use Some Shaping

bronzer.jpg

My favorite contour at the moment is the TooFaced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This is the perfect contour shade for all the pastey girls out there. They also make a chocolate and dark chocolate shade for different skin tones. This bronzer has a good amount of pigment, and it also smells delicious!

mockingjay.jpg

Mockingjay was a pretty big disappointment for me, and I think many other Hunger Games fans would agree. This book had very little direction and many meaningless deaths. Also, the ending left me feeling a bit unsatisfied.

Well, this brings us to the end of the tag. I hoped you enjoyed reading about my favorite beauty products and my favorite books! If you have any products or books you want to share please leave a comment! Thanks for reading!

  1. Delerium sounds amazing! I’m reading The Handmaid’s Tale right now in class and its dystopian- have you read it? It’s very interesting! That brow builder by Sephora looks great too, loved the post, it’s such a clever tag x

  3. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling, is such a great book! I love Mindy’s sense of humor, too. Reading her book is like getting good life advice from an older sister I’ve never had, and growing from my experiences as I live my life.

Another great book to read is Gunn’s Golden Rules by Tim Gunn with Ada Calhoun. Even though most people know him as a mentor on Project Runway, he talks about his beginning when he was a design teacher at Parsoms and his experience with teaching his students to make any situation work. Also, he talks about what happened after his fame, and some of the people he’s encountered in the fashion industry who have forgotten that manners matter. It’s a really good read, and he’s truly inspiring! 🙂
